a mind is a terrible thing to share

William Denn's Mindscape

Forum

The Forum is a bar in the mind of William Denn. It's main feature is the stage, from which personalities can direct his actions and interact with the outside world. There is a television on the stage that displays the images that Denn sees, and speakers play what he hears. These enable anybody near the stage to observe what's happening outside.

The stage is the most stable feature in Denn's mind, apparently beyond the influence of individual preferences or desires. The remainder of the bar tends to maintain a general layout, due to the nearly constant presence of several personalities that believe it should conform to a standard appearance. Details tend to be more susceptible to modification, altering to suit the needs and expectations of visitors.

Although the personalities do not need to eat or drink, many are comforted by going through the motions. There is no wait staff, and no one has seen a kitchen, but food and beverages appear and refresh as required and vanish when no longer needed. Some personalities like to build up a stack of used dishes for a more natural feel, while others exert more conscious manipulation of their environment.

Maelstroms

Maelstroms are regions of the mind where control is weak or even impossible. It is accepted among the personalities that this is where their origins lie. A few of them were seen forming in the eyes of maelstroms, and more are still being created.

The personalities fear maelstroms, where they suspect that they could be absorbed into the process and lost. It has been established that one can successfully navigate the maelstrom of a nearly realized personality, but the difficulty of this accomplishment lends credence to their wariness of more abstracted regions.

Mark's Personal Hell

Among the many individual habitations in William Denn's mind, is the wasteland where Mark keeps his own company. Here, he gets to define reality, and if his definition tends to debris and scorch marks, then it must also include new scenery to blast and burn. Anyway, it keeps him from mucking about with other people's belongings, so it's all for the best.

Really.

Schoolroom

The child personalities spend much of their time in the schoolroom, where Cass strives to expand their knowledge and instill them with a sense of community. The challenge of keeping four creative minds in check has only strengthened Cass' control of this area. It is widely believed that the schoolroom is even more stable than the Forum. No one is willing to speculate as to how it may compare to the stage.
